Emergency Bag Guide

Prepared today, safer together tomorrow.

Build Your Bag Around Real Needs

An emergency bag should support the first critical hours after a disaster. Water, food, first aid, light, communication, personal medication, document copies and a modest amount of cash form its foundation.

Adapt the list for children, older adults, disabled family members, pets, climate and medical needs. Check expiry dates and batteries at least every six months.

Keep Some Cash in Small Denominations

ATMs, card terminals and mobile banking may be unavailable after a disaster. Set aside an amount appropriate for your household’s essential needs for several days, preferably in small denominations. Store it discreetly in a waterproof inner pouch and review it with your bag every six months.
